Fixing a problem
A few weeks back, I was asked to return to a regular customer to help her builder out with the new extension. Now that this area of the home was being renovated, it had become apparent that the gas work was not going to behave well with the new set up...
Gas Safe
As a gas safe registered engineer, I am licensed to commission/ decommission, inspect & repair most elements of gas piping & gas appliances. This job required the gas meter to temporarily moved so that the new configuration of pipework could be safely installed.
If you look carefully at the first image, you'll see that the meter is not there!
Pipe Cutting
After the gas supply had been shut off, I removed the exisiting copper pipes. Once this was done, I began to measure up & cut new copper for the new arrangement.
Soldering
Obviously, the slightly tricky bit is standing on a ladder in a bit of a tight space wielding a blow torch. This, combined with manipulating pipes and connectors into position so that the solder correctly joins them, is also a task that requires some focus!
More Gas Safe
After the difficult work was done, it was back to the regulatory procedure - namely, recommissioning the gas meter, then checking the flow rate to check for leaks... all was well, and there were no issues with my copper.
The end result was definitely satisfactory. Tidy pipework enabling the construction work on the extension to proceed.
Job done :)
